What are amenities?

In the hospitality industry, amenities refer to the various facilities, features, services, and conveniences provided to guests. They play a significant role in enhancing the guest experience, influencing their level of comfort and satisfaction. Depending on the nature and class of the establishment (e.g., budget motel vs. luxury resort), the offered amenities can vary widely.

Some common amenities you might find in the hospitality industry, particularly in hotels and resorts, for instance:

  • Basic room amenities: like a mini-fridge, a hairdryer etc.
  • Bathroom amenities: like body lotion, a shower cap etc.
  • Technology amenities; streaming service like Hulu or Netflix.
  • Exclusive amenities: like pillow menus, limousine services.
  • Services: mobile check-in, room service, dry cleaning, transfers, sports facilities
  • ...

Goods

As just indicated, there are many types of amenities. Many guests immediately think of the "free" products offered by a hotel. By being original about this, these products can provide more experience and appeal. Often the products are specific to the chain (personalized) and are also favorite items for the guest to take with them. The best-known goods and products in this group are:

  • Personal care items (bathroom, toilet); toiletries like soap, foam, shaving set etc.
  • Coffee - tea kit
  • Bathrobes and slippers
  • Tissue box
  • Pen and paper

Some guests take many of these products home with them. This is often not intended, but often unavoidable. Sometimes the products are also for sale as well.
