Country

The Emerald Forest Hotel is located in a city in your country or in any comparable European city. So you can use the local information of your own country. Remember, you are taking over an international hotel which is always aiming at the international market. So the prices, as you can tell from the past, are in line with the international market. But, as you can tell by the occupancy rate so far; your hotel is a cosy family hotel. It is not a member of one of the big chains or alliances.

Information on the city

The Emerald Forest Hotel is located in a city with approximately 100,000 inhabitants. It is a city which has more services to offer than just the ones for the inhabitants. The city has several interesting tourist attractions which makes it interesting to visit. Because of its central location, close to an airport and close to the sea and of course the forest, with its own modern train station and good highway connections, the city is a hub to many other destinations. Since a few hundred years the city has had a stronghold and also had its own markets. In the 21st century, the city still has a strong reputation in retail, services, and industry. The number of jobs located in the city is estimated at 150,000 which means there is a lot of traffic as well. The city provides employment to many incoming workers.

Active branches

The most active branches in the city are a big Japanese industrial factory in assembling electronics which employs 4,000 people and services related to the internet, especially to warehousing, and holds a strong position in the city. The regional government employs over 5,000 people. From the past, logistics (in total 30.000 jobs in more than 40 companies), transshipment and storage play an important role in this region. The shops in the old town are a major tourist attraction and employ over 10,000 people.

Because of these industrial activities, the hospitality industry is important as well. Not only hotels, like the Emerald Forest Hotel, but also restaurants and bars are settled in the city in large numbers. Therefore there is also a (separate) big conference hall for major events, as the MICE-market has always found good partners in the city.

Population

The population of the city is the same as in an average city in the country; although the number of young urban-oriented people is growing. The image of the city is that of a dynamic and interesting place to live. Many people prefer to live in this city rather than other places.

Grounds

The hotel stands on privately owned grounds. The roads leading to the hotel are, until they reach the parking spaces of the hotel, owned and maintained by the city (see the groundplan). The park and its grounds (to the north of the hotel and alongside the banqueting halls) are owned by the city and very well taken care of. The city will never allow any construction to be built in the park-area which is considered to be the green lung of this part of the city.

Competitors

As you take over the hotel, there several other hotels in the city; this means that your hotel has competitors. All hotels have the same history and therefore the exact same position as you take over: the same net profit index and the same situation.

Name of the city

Your hotel is, as you take it over, called Emerald Forest Hotel. Because of the growth of the city since 1970's, the hotel is located in a suburb - quarter of the still growing city. The city is famous for its many parks and its two rivers. In the beginning, the starting point will be the same for all teams and all cities. Depending on the developments in any city, the cities can (and will) grow apart. Click here to find the list of all City names.
