General information on the assignment
The total of this group assignment has 3 parts. Be sure to work on this assignment seriously. Do not postpone this till after the finals, if possible start working on this already during the game week and the years.
Please fill the answers out in your explanations form: there is room for this at the end of the document. If by instruction or own choice you make the assignment on a tab in your teamsheet, be sure to put the link in the proper section at the end of your explanations form.
This work will get evaluated and has 50% influence on your final mark. Be sure to write specific, in a business-style and give sources etc. Please write in English. For any questions on this you can consult your staff on financial management: Arion van Ingen and Joyce Krielen. An indication is to have 2 pages on each of the 3 parts, so all together 6 pages of real content.
Be explicit
For all of the numbers give all of the calculations, explain all of your choices, why did you do it this way, way did you pick these numbers, what is the relevance of the outcome, look at a benchmark (compare it to other numbers to explain the relevance of the outcome). Give your sources for all numbers.
Mind the notation of the numbers: use € and 1.000 or 1,000 etc. in the proper way. Round up number if necessarily to your team: it's up to you to decide on this, this also shows that you understand the relevance of any outcome! Do this for all three parts and sub parts.

2. Other ratio's
Look for ratio's which can be taken from your hotel results over the years and check for developments in them.
- calculate the fixed costs per room per day in all four years.

- Calculate margin per room in the different seasons we differentiate in. First calculate the integral and differential cost price.
3. Further Instructions and Recommendations
Use suitable literature or websites to prepare and analyze the results, including managerial and financial accounting textbooks. Give all sources. Try to find benchmarks for a real hotel in the Netherlands like the Emerald Forest. Then reflect on :
- sales prices of your hotel and match that with real figures in the market.
- occupancy rates of your hotel and match that with real figures in the market.
- the net profit of your hotel and match that with real figures in the market.
Write in a concrete and serious way as to show knowledge on the subject. Be sure to make calculations and explain them! Maybe make the calculations in Excel en copy past them into your file.
Think of any recommendations you want to give to the hotel. What do you think they should improve in the future in comparison with other hotels.
