Your tasks during the game week
Tasks during the game week 7, Monday 10th February - Friday 14th October
All the sessions during the game week are very useful and compulsory (and often fun, of course).
- Task 5: Monday 10th February (prologue, year 0) - Preparations and strategy
> 09.00 - 11.00 Game warmers and registration. Study the platform, do the tasks 1 to 4, read the online manual etc.
> 11.00 Official opening and Kick-off
> 12.30 Lunch break. Meet with your team, work on Team Fil (top of page link to your city); be sure it is ready by the end of the day. Be sure to bring down the size of pictures or photo's used to 150kb. Use for instance the tool shrinking pictures.
> 13.30 “Decision Making and Team Building” (Philip Cullen).
> 14.30 “PR Communication and Trade Fair / Event Organization” (Eliis Salm)
> 15.30 - 16.30 Break / Check your Team File and fill out in your Team File your teamname and experiment with filling in decisions. Work on your teampage. And work on your assignment linked to the prologue, year 0. > 16.30 – 17.30 Q & A Session (Kai Holschuh, Desmond Wee, Philip Cullen, Eliis Salm & René Arvola).
> 17.30 - 19.00 Prepare the Trade Fair: be sure to have all things ready and set for tomorrow! Work on the assignment (a big one!) and look ahead to the rest of the tasks.
> 19.00 Deadline for teampage on the platform and for your hotels name in your Team File. You can upgrade the teampage later-on, but it should be ready now.
- Task 6: Tuesday 11th February (year 1) - Day of Creativity
On this first day your team will demonstrate its creativity and thereby present the new hotel in a more promising strategic direction, as well as distinguishing your hotel from your competitors.
> 09.00 - 10.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations.
> 10.00 Deadline for handing the assignment for year 0.
> 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: results year 0, instruction on year 1.
> 11.00 - 11.45 Dialogue “Managing Your Hotel: Communication and Media Strategies” / “Managing Your Project” (Rene Arvola and Martin Zierold).
> 11.45 - 12.30 Questions and coaching.
> 12.30 - 15.00 Preparations for Trade Fair, work on decisions.
> 15.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 1 both to be done in the Team File. Read the page secret link Team File and fill your decisions out. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.
> 15.00 - 16.00 Participation in Trade Fair and presenting your new hotel and working on your assignment on the Trade Fair. Participation of all team members mandatory.
> 16.00 - 18.00 work on the assignment and look ahead to the rest of the tasks.

- Task 7: Wednesday 12th February (year 2) - Day of Calculations
Analyze the results, the operational costs made and the key indicators for your hotel. On this day, focus on the calculations a manager often has to make. "Financial language" is key in the hotel sector. Further, linking these to benchmarks is crucial to profitability. After receiving your first results (on year 01) you need to study them, in order to decide on how to react in the next year.

> 09.45 - 10.45 AGM: results year 1, instruction on year 2.
> 10.45 - 11.45 Input session “Financial Planning” (Kai Holschuh).
> 11.45 - 12.30 Questions and coaching.
> 12.30 - 16.00 Analysis of the results, make new decisions etc: no specific assignment in this year.
> 16.00 Deadline for the decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 2 both to be done in your Team File. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.
> 16.00 – 17.00 Input session “Selling Techniques in a Nutshell” (Isabelle Van Tomme).

- Task 8: Thursday 13th February (year 03) - Day of Managing the Company
The managing of a hotel relies heavily on the ability to communicate with customers as well as your staff, especially when "exceptional" situations arise. Expect a negative event (crisis) to happen this year. The hotel management will need to deal directly, actively and creatively with the event, as well as to take timely decisions to resolve it.

> 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: results year 2, instruction on year 3.
> 11.00 – 11.45 Dialogue “Management Under Pressure” (Dirk Wagner and Phil Cullen).
> 11.45 – 12.30 Questions and coaching.
> 12.30 - 16.00 Resolve management issues; pricing decisions, adjust Team File. Work on your assignment make new decisions!
> 16.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 03 both to be done in your Team File. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.
> 16.00 - 18.30 Prepare for the 3 Minutes of Fame, work on the assignment and look ahead to the rest of the tasks. Tomorrow is going to be a really packed day!
- Task 9: Friday 14th February (year 4) - Day of Promotion
On this day your team will show how to sell its services and make hotel promotions attractive through the use of internet and social media. The competitions finish today. Final results will be determined and the teams with the most profit and that were the most creative will be awarded.
> 08.00 - 09.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations.
> 09.00 Deadline for handing the assignment for year 3.
> 09.00 - 10.00 AGM: results year 3, instruction on year 4.
> 10.00 - 11.00 Team preparation of 3 minutes of fame; pricing decisions, adjust Team File etc.; coaches available for feedback and questions.
> 11.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 04 both to be done in the secure section. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.
> 11.00 - 12.00 Presentations for 3 minutes of fame; all teammembers are in. Take notes or your assignment as well.
> 12.00 - 12.30 Last details on your assignment (year 4), to be handed in at 13.30.
> 14.30 - 15.30 Game Final: Award Ceremony.
> 15.30 After the game final we kindly ask you to evaluate the game by filling out the handed out questionnaire; it helps us to further improve the game!
> 18.00 Closing dinner for all students and coaches.
- Task 10: After the game final: Assignment and Questionnaire
The assignment is a big part of this game and important for your final mark: it is worth 50% of your total mark. You will have to finish the last part of this document in, printed out. Deadline Friday 13.30
