On the page Game 09DE home you can find all tasks (numbered 1 - 4) to be done before the actual game week starts: this should be ready when you start off here.
Your tasks during the game week (Feb 2 - Feb 6)
All the sessions during the game week are very instructive and compulsory (and often fun, of course...). Tasks 1 to 4 should have been finalized previous week: see Game_09DE_home.
- Task 5: Monday 2 February (year 1) - Preparations
Starting day of the game, introduction and finalizing the basic set-up of the hotel.
> 09.00 - 10.00 Registration & welcome
> 10.00 City Ralley (Turmberg)
> 12.30 Lunch break
> 14.30 Official opening and Kick-Off
> 15.30 - 17.30 Meet with your team, work on your team page on this platform. Be sure it is ready by the end of the day. Be sure to bring down the size of pictures or photo's used to 150kb. Use for instance the tool shrinking pictures.

> 17.30 - 19.00 Prepare the Trade Fair: be sure to have all things ready and set for tomorrow! There is no additional assignment to be handed in in this round. Look ahead to the rest of the tasks.
> 19.00 Deadline for teampage on platform and for filling out your hotel's name in your Team File. You can improve the team page later on, but it should be completed now.
> 19.00 Hotel Association Business Networking Event: Get-Together at KarlsCafé (third floor). Participation of all team members mandatory.
- Task 6: Tuesday 3 February (year 1) - Day of Creativity
On this first day your team will demonstrate its creativity and thereby present the new hotel in a more promising strategic direction, as well as distinguishing your hotel from your competitors.
> 08.30 - 10.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations. Prepare for the Trade Fair.
> 10.00 Deadline for handing in the assignment for year 0.
> 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: impressions of year 0, instruction on year 1.

> 14.30 Deadline for decisions and explanations both in your Team File for year 1. Read the page secret link Team File and fill your decisions out. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions as to get a grip on things.
> 14.30 - 16.00 Participation in Trade Fair and presenting your new hotel there and work on your assignment. Participation of all team members mandatory.
> 16.00 - 18.00 work on the assignment in question number 15 in your explanations form and look ahead to the rest of the tasks.
- Task 7: Wednesday 4 February (year 2) - Day of Calculations
Analyze the results, the operational costs made and the key performance indicators for your hotel. On this day, we focus on the calculations that a manager often has to make. The language of the "Financials" is key in the hotel sector. Further, linking these to benchmarks is crucial to keep profitability. After receiving your first results (on year 1) you need to analyze them, in order to decide on how to run the hotel in the next year.

> 16.00 Deadline for the decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 2, both to be done in your Team File. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions to get a grip on things.

> 17.00 - 18.00 Look ahead to the rest of the tasks.
> 18.00 - 20.00 Mystery ride through Karlsruhe.
- Task 8: Thursday 5 February (year 3) - Day of Managing the Company
Managing a hotel relies heavily on the ability to communicate with customers as well as with your staff, especially when "exceptional" situations arise. The hotel management will need to deal directly, actively and creatively with the event, as well as to take timely decisions to solve it.
> 09.00 - 10.00 Meet with your team, work on decisions and explanations.
> 10.00 - 11.00 AGM: results year 2, instruction on year 3.
> 11.00 – 11.30 Roundtable “Management Under Pressure” (all coaches).
> 11.30 – 12.00 Questions and coaching.
> 12.00 - 16.00 Resolve management issues; pricing decisions, adjust team page, work on your social media and website, make new decisions!
> 16.00 Deadline for decisions and explanations both in your Team File for year 3, both to be done in your Team File. You will absolutely have to read the page decisions to get a grip on things.
> 16.00 - 18.30 Prepare for the 3 Minutes of Fame, work on the assignment and look ahead to the rest of the tasks. Tomorrow is going to be a really packed day!
- Task 9: Friday 6 February (year 4) - Day of Promotion
On this day your team will show how to sell its services and make hotel promotions attractive through the use of internet and social media. The competition finishes today. Final results will be determined and the teams with the highest profit and with most creativity will be awarded.

> 09.00 Deadline for handing in the assignment for year 3.
> 09.00 - 10.00 AGM: results year 3, instruction on year 4
> 10.00 - 11.00 Team preparation of 3 minutes of fame; pricing decisions, adjust team page etc. Coaches available for feedback and questions
> 11.00 Deadline for team decisions and explanations in explanations form for year 4, both to be done in your Team File for year 4.
> 11.00 - 12.00 Presentations for 3 minutes of fame: all members are in. Take note for the assignment (question 15, year 4) on this.
> 12.00 - 14.00 Finish last details on your assignment (year 4, questions 15) to be handed in at 14:00
> 15.00 - 16.00 Game Final: Award Ceremony
> 16.00 After the game final we kindly ask you to evaluate the game by filling out the questionnaire; it helps us to further improve the game!
> 18.00 Closing dinner with all students and coaches
- Task 10: Assignment
The assignment is split up in 4 separate questions 'number 15' in each of the for years. The instructions are to be found in the explanations form. This is a big part of this simulation and important for your final mark: it is worth 50% of your total mark. You will have to finish this document which you have been working on all week and hand it in Friday 14:00.
