Editing

Above each page you see tabs: the article tab is what you see now. There is a number of tabs, the only one important one now is the EDIT tab. If you want to change the content of a page you can click on the edit tab. You only have edit rights in the section of your city, for example 01EU, and on a few pages:

  • Your own page (team-page).
  • On the page of your city where you can edit a small section: only the News section.

How?

If you have edited an article (for instance your team-page) click the link SAVE PAGE underneath the edit section. Then you can click on the first tab and you will see what it looks like. We are working on a WYSIWYG editor by the way so you can work like in Word without the codes.

But as wikipedia.com still hasn't realised it either, you know it's not a piece of cake. This software has huge advantages (stable, multiple log-in, open source etc.) but this is an disadvantage.

The basics:

  • You can only type in NOT protected sections: so if you see a tag which looks like </protect> : this means from this point on you can put in things or type. When the next protect tags comes <protect> and without the / this means right there starts a new protected section in which you can't edit. This is done to make sure all pages look a like.

  • You can copy and paste things in form the edit section from any page: especially the 01EU:Team example page. Of course you cannot use the protected tags. So, you can copy and paste and then change the content.

  • You can open your browser twice and open the platform twice to make this more easy.

  • You can open the platform, with your team-code at the same time with the same code with more pc's. Of course you cannot edit a page at the same time with two different pc's.

  • Tricks can be found in the Help section.

Picture and logo?

Your team picture and your logo should stay the same: so do not edit or change them. What you should do, as with any picture: go to the page itself (normal view, not the edit mode) and click on the (red) link. Then you can upload (smaller then 100kb!!) your team-picture and team-logo. Be sure to upload the right one, you can only do this once.

All other pictures, logo's and video's etc. you can give a name yourself (but do look in Help:5 minute start#Insert a photo or picture what the structure of the name should be. Then, after saving, you go to the normal view there as well and click on the link and upload the picture you want to be in.

Complicated?

No, but the editing in a platform is a bit unusual. The big advantage is, that it is very stable, open source, without costs, adaptable to needs etc.

  • Be sure pictures are not too big (nor in size or in kB: max. 100 kB).
  • If you are a 'whizz-kid': most HTML-code are accepted.
  • Almost 1.400 students have worked in this Management Game platform, so sure YOU can also!
