What can you do?
In the game you have a number of possibilities to influence your hotel.
- The Team File which you have a private login link to. In this file you present your strategy and the links to your web site and social media. In this file you also do all your decisions and explanations.
- Your Team Finances spreadsheet: only accessible with your private link via your Team File, any hotel has its own. None of this is visible on the platform. In this file each hotel can follow:
- The social media, websites etc. (on the first page of your Team file there should be links to all your social media and website(s) used)
- Other live actions of your team: sometimes required, like the Trade Fair but maybe also at your own initiative.
There is a Demo team you can check, with a filled out Team File and a Team Finances. We know look what the Team File is.
Use of Team File
The Team File is the place where your team makes it strategic choices in running the hotel. In this file you also give links to your web site and social media and also do all your explanations of your decisions. You can also get a quick overview of all logo's and team pictures and names ever used. As you take over the hotel your Team File looks somewhat (all competitions are different) like this:
This first page is important for all the links to other files like your Team Finances and all your social media to be made. So one of your tasks is to fill in all the links.
Editing
As a management team you do all your decisions and explanations in the Team File, assigned to you. Sometimes, when it is busy online, it takes some time to load. You can all work in the file at the same time. The program has a lot of functionalities: if you are logged in any Google account yourself (Gmail, YouTube etc.) you will have a more extended menu. If you have problems with copy paste, read Google Docs Help. There is a lot of tutorials on YouTube on working in Google Docs. Most basic things just work like in Word. You can access the file form many different PC's (telephones) at the same time, no problem. Remember that the last edit counts. Just be very careful if filling out the numbers in the tables in your file. The file is only visible to those knowing the secret code and your coach.
Elements
In your Team File (which is not public) your present
Only once:
- Preparations: strategic choices like your hotel's new name, new logo, new concept, you as a management team.
Each year:
- Decisions: on prices and explaining them, and on expenses and investments and explaining them
- Additional information you want to communicate to your coach
Decisions per year
The financial numbers belonging to your decisions per year are to be made in your Team File.
On the numbers you chose a few remarks:
- be sure that you know how to fill out your decisions the boundaries: check instructions on the page decisions.
- as instructed, do not use , or . or € or any other descriptors, just fill out the 'plane' numbers in the tables.
- especially think of the explanations of your decision. Fill out your explanations on any decision underneath the numbers and be very specific and concrete in your explanations.
If you make mistakes on filling in the numbers in each table, you can correct this in any year as long as the deadline is not over!
Beware of the differences between . and , and do not euro signs etc. Just put the numbers in the tables per decisions, nothing else.
You can change your input as often as you want to. There is no SAVE button, everything is saved as you type it in. There is undo, if needed. So you can go back a number of steps (control Z). The last edit before the deadline counts, so you can work from different pc's at the same time.
As in reality, you can not change things in the past, so do not change decisions is a year passsed by.
